BWW: Characterisation and Unlocking Your Creative Consciousness is a five-week course that deals with helping you work on your characters and their motivations in fiction and creative non-fiction. In this course, you will work exclusively on characterisation. This will help you write stories that have an authentic flavour and your own unique worldview. It is a dynamic class that is structured around mind-mapping, group discussions, and dialogues. There will be no more than 10 students in this workshop.

What is Characterisation and Unlocking Your Creative Consciousness?
Characterisation and Unlocking Your Creative Consciousness is a creative writing program. In this course, you will work exclusively on characterisation. This will help you write stories that have an authentic flavour and your own unique worldview.

What do we mean by ‘creative consciousness’?
We could say this is a mindful practice that enables, supports, or enhances creativity. Creative consciousness is an infinite source of ideas, perspectives, and practices that people try and test. We'll work on tools and methods to help you become aware of your thoughts, ideas, feelings, and memories while you're in the creative process. We'll also help you consciously process these to edit and integrate them into a creative product, i.e, your narrative.

Who is it targeted at?
This course is for writers who are past graduates of the BWW Classic course who are working on adding nuance and authenticity to their writing, and fine-tuning their ability to craft full-bodied characters. It is a workshop aimed at intermediate writers who want to focus on honing their writing further.
Note: If you are new to writing and don't have a particular interest in any genre, style, or form as yet, we recommend you try the BWW: Classic.
Should you apply for the BWW Characterisation and Unlocking Your Creative Consciousness course and haven't done the BWW Classic, your application will be considered for the BWW Classic by default.

But I already know about plot, character, and dialogue. What is this course going to add to what I know?
Good question. Plot, character, and dialogue are all important aspects of telling a good story.
Authentic characterisation strengthens your narrative. It makes your story more compelling and intriguing.
This course will be particularly helpful for you if you are stuck with your story idea and are unsure of its treatment.
At the end of this workshop, you should have one authentic well-crafted story ready to be submitted.

Will this course strengthen my fundamentals?
No. Characterisation and Unlocking Your Creative Consciousness will not school you in the craft of writing: story, character, dialogue. That’s what the BWW Classic (8-week course) is for.  

What is the methodology?
You will work on a combination of theory, exercise, discussions, role-plays, simulation activities, and assignments.
Every week involves a writing assignment that could include mind-mapping exercises, and scene and dialogue writing.

What is the duration?
15 hours. Five 3-hour sessions across five consecutive Saturdays/Sundays.

What is the cost?
INR 30,000/- per head including GST at 18%.
